From that point on, Joe Satriani has consistently released great guitar records that really stand in league all of their own. Additionally, Joe Satriani has collaborated with many artists in multiple side projects. One of his most successful side projects was his involvement with the band Chickenfoot as the group’s guitarist along with Michael Anthony on bass, Sammy Hagar on vocals and Chad Smith on drums. This was a supergroup that many rocks fans are dying to hear more music from. Satriani has also been involved in recordings with Alice Cooper, Blue Oyster Cult, Stuart Hamm and many others. Saat itu, Satriani sangat terpengaruh oleh permainan Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton hingga Jimmy Page yang mengubahnya menjadi gitaris rock. Satriani bergabung dengan Band The Squares di San Fransisco, lalu ikut dengan Greg Khin Band. Muridnya, Steve Vai lebih dulu punya nama di dunia musik pada 1986. Dari Steve Vai, nama Satriani melambung. Kala itu, setelah merilis For The Love of God, Steve Vai banyak diwawancari oleh media, dan ia menyebut nama Satriani sebagai mentor, dan membuat banyak orang penasaran. Tahun 1987, Satriani merilis album Surfing with The Alien dan meledak di pasaran. Album ini menjadi instrumental rock yang menembus tangga teratas lagu-lagu dunia. Nama Satriani terus diperbincangkan dalam jagat rock. Ia bahkan membuat publik gempar setelah direkrut oleh Mick Jagger sebagai lead guitar dalam tur solo perdananya di luar The Rolling Stones. Akhir tahun 1993, Satriani kembali membuat kejutan. Ia direkrut oleh band legendaris Deep Purple seagai gitaris utama pengganti Ritchie Blackmore dalam tur ke Jepang. Personel Deep Purple kagum dengan permainan Satriani yang jenius. Ia ditawari untuk menjadi gitaris tetap di band tersebut. Namun, Satriani lebih memilih karir solo karena telah menandatangani kontrak dengan Sony untuk albumnya, ia pun menolak tawaran Deep Purple. Tahun 1996, Satriani menginisiasi proyek besar bernama G3, bersama muridnya Steve Vai dan Eric Johnson. Proyek ini terus berlanjut hingga menampilkan gitaris-gitaris lainnya seperti Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, hingga Paul Gilbert. Satriani hingga kini masih aktif bermusik.
